Steelhead Wade Trip
This trip can be tailored to any skill level from beginner to expert. We will be fishing the Brule River, located in northern Wisconsin. The river flows North into Lake Superior. It holds large numbers of residential trout and gets both a spring and fall run of fish from Lake Superior. Starting as early as late July, Lake Run Brown Trout, King Salmon, and Coho Salmon make their way into the river system to spawn. Steelhead also move in to feed and hold over in the river until the spring when it’s their turn to spawn. Whether its spring or fall, nothing beats fighting these fish in the beautiful Brule River. They have incredible strength from spending most of their time in the big lake! Expect to learn a great deal about these fish, how to target them, a beautiful day of hiking, and a chance to hook a trophy sized fish.
Normally we target steelhead traditionally with wet fly fishing/nymphing techniques. Casting instruction is always provided during trips. If you’re interested in getting one on the swing, we offer spey casting instruction as well.
